Sandburg Softball Notches 1st Win in Split With Black Hawk

The Carl Sandburg College softball team earned its first victory of the season as it split an Arrowhead Conference-opening doubleheader with Black Hawk on Tuesday at the William “Bill” Hungate Baseball/Softball Complex.

Key Moment
After a Black Hawk tally in the top of the fifth cut the Chargers’ lead to 3-2, Sandburg (1-5, 1-1) added six insurance runs in the bottom half. The Chargers cracked seven hits in the inning, with five of them going for doubles.

Maddi Benson (Spring Bay, Ill./Metamora) was one of five Chargers with a multi-hit game, going 2 for 3 with a double, home run, walk, three runs scored and two RBIs.
